Using my last series "Recording in and on it" as a springboard, I look further into time and the ways humans make marks on the world.
In this series, I focus my interest on the facades I have experienced while traveling around the world, and question what it is about them that intrigue me so much. I am drawn to the layers of graffiti tags and colourful painted sections that have been covered up and peeled off as a record of history and human experiences. In this series of small paintings, I both exaggerate and simplify these qualities. I concentrate on overlapping textures, organic forms that take shape, colour combinations, and unexpected markings.
