Digital Photos of Installation
In the photo installation work I made Spring 2009, I used found slides from families that I did not know. The photos were taken in the 1960s and 1970s of family trips and Christmas dinners. They had been taken into a photo lab for processing and had never been picked up and claimed.
Having no knowledge of the family, I had no context to base the photos on. I distorted their appearance when projected them onto a 3D surface. The images were transformed; someone else’s photos were now mine. They had been lost and forgotten and I gave them life again. This project made me question many things; what objects are considered prized processions, and how photographs can testify as records of lives.
